Pelvic, Lumbar & Thoracic Pain & Dysfunction Management using
Muscle Energy & Positional Release Techniques
Course Tutor: Leon Chaitow DO
PROGRAMME
Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) and Positional Release techniques (PRT) have emerged from a background of osteopathic soft tissue manipulation methodology. They represent a variety of techniques that are ideal for mobilization of soft tissues or joints, in both acute and chronic conditions.
The one day workshop will involve approximately 30% theory/lecture and 70% hands-on practice of the methods.
By the end of the course the student should have:
• An evidence informed understanding of the rationale and methodology of use of a variety of osteopathic MET and PRT approaches, and the ability to apply these in clinical settings to neck, thoracic &
Pelvic pain.
• Evidence informed understanding, and the ability to apply a range of functional assessment methods for identification of specific soft tissue and articular dysfunctions, prior to application of MET and/or PRT
• An awareness of a variety of clinically useful approaches applicable to dysfunctional soft tissues
• An increased ability to justify the choice of MET and/or PRT in the management of soft tissue and joint dysfunction in the thoracic and pelvic regions
